The edit menu gathers all the basic editing commands. One important thing you should know is that the following commands (except the ones related with undo/redo as well as the flush, clear and crop) can be applied to the whole objects or to the part of the image selected by the selection mask. By default when there is no selection the command is applied the whole current object.

As you already know thoses are the basic
commands, you certainly will be using them all the time. So if they are any shortcuts you
should learn, these are certainly the ones related to the edit menu.
